Starting this season, talented Murrieta Surf players will be identified and recommended to be assessed by way of tryout or training with the relevant San Diego Surf ECNL or US Soccer Development Academy team. Murrieta Surf Director of Coaching Steve Myles commented, "This partnership with San Diego Surf and their Director of Coaching, Colin Chesters, will be beneficial to both parties, The San Diego Surf's ECNL and US Academy programs are some of the most elite development programs in the United States, and we hope to give our most talented players the opportunity to play at the highest levels of the sport and help those teams continue to win."
San Diego Surf's ECNL stats this past season: 110 games played, 82 wins and one National Championship.
This confirms the success of Surf Soccer Club's development techniques and is also highlighted by the vast number of players who obtain college scholarships.
An example of the partnership is Christian Redin, a former player for Murrieta Surf BU18W team, who was recommended by Steve Myles to San Diego Surf and now plays on their U18 Academy team.
